      [1] Start of Shafer Trail into Canyonlands

This is the backdoor into Canyonlands NP via the Shafer Trail.  It is a scenic drive from along the Colorado River up into the canyons.  It has a series of hair-raising, white knuckle switchbacks up the steep canyon wall.   Click on Current Photos on the blogroll to see Thelma and Louise Point, Dead Horse Point and the Colorado River Gooseneck.
