A View to Monument Valley

Monument Valley
April 4, 2010
After a long day on the road, we arrived in the Navajo Nation at Monument Valley just over the Utah border. This is the view from our rv site at Gouldings! It is really amazing to be surrounded on all sides by these immense red sandstone rock formations. We are about 2 miles from the monuments but still the sense of awe is with me from a distance. It was a very windy day and you can see the dust in the air in my pic.
We had a wonderful dinner of Navajo fried bread and Navajo tacos. A treat for sure.
Hoping to get up early to drive the jeep on the unpaved roads into the monuments. Sweet dreams.

Out of Africa
April 3. 2010 by Merilee.
Cottonwood, AZ
April 3, 2010
The weather in Cottonwood has been wonderful, sunny and 70’s. I took a safari ride in a unimog at Out of Africa. It is an African wildlife preserve set on 300 acres of high desert in Cottonwood, AZ. The wildlife was roaming free and sometimes approached our safari vehicle. This was much more fun than a zoo environment.
We are headed north to Monument Valley and then onto Moab, UT. Brad is looking forward to some jeep adventures.
